Route from Mumbai to Vadodara

Laxmi Vilas Palace
Built by Maharaja Sayajirao III as his personal residence, this artistic palace is spread over 700 acres of land. With multi-colored marble and mosaic tiles, this architecturally marvellous palace is about 4 times the size of Buckingham Palace. This palace ground has a golf course and various other tourist attractions as well, such as Moti Baug Palace and the Maharaja Fateh Singh Museum.
Sayaji Gardens
One of the largest parks in India, this garden was built by Maharaja Sayajirao III in 1879. Also known as Kamati Baug, it has an area of more than 111 acres. This huge park has a flower clock and more than 99 different species of trees. It has a toy train along with a planetarium, an aquarium with 45 species of fish, a rich zoo and two museums.
Mandvi Gate
A major landmark of Vadodara, Mandvi Gate was first built in 1511-26 AD by Sultan Muzaffar. This four storied gateway was later renovated in 1736 AD under Damaji Rao II and in 1856 AD by Ganpatrao Gaekwad. The square shaped pavilion around the gate has an impressive arched opening on all its four sides.
Kirti Mandir
Built in the memory of Maharaja Sayajirao Gaekwad III, during the silver jubilee celebration in 1936, this royal mausoleum Gaekwad dynasty, is architecturally magnificent with a rich history attached to it. In this building, you will find murals by Nandalal Bose and rare paintings by the great artist Raja Ravi Varma.
Sursagar Lake
Earlier known as Chaand Talav, this lake is a popular tourist location, located right in the middle of the city. Always full of water, it offers a perfect place to relax as well as go for activities like paddle boating. The huge statue of Lord Shiva in the centre of the lake is a major attraction here. Akkalkot Swami Maharaj Mandir and Hanuman Mandir, which are located by the side of the lake, are also worth visiting.
